Something I noticed while writing up the Traktor Pro 3.11 update story is that the X1 MK3 no longer carries the ‘Kontrol’ nomenclature. The name continues to exist for the keyboard product range, though.
There are a number of reasons this might have happened:
- Siloing Traktor from other products. Could NI be looking for a buyer for Traktor?
- Simplifying the product branding.
It’s not a hugely significant fact, but definitely an interesting move by Native Instruments, perhaps with an eye to the future and whatever other products they might want to release. The rest of the current line of Traktor controllers continues to have the old branding.
What hardware would you like to see added to the Traktor family? What updates to current hardware?
Oh, and by the way… it’s still pronounced mark, not emkay. It’s the mark three.
